Our Honeymoon in Iceland – The Blue Lagoon

You may be thinking, “honeymoon in Iceland?!” Not the likeliest of places for a post wedding celebration. But let me tell you… it was amazing!

Now of course Iceland isn’t the typical tropical destinations many couples aim for (relaxing amongst the palm trees and sipping cocktails). Total opposite. We wanted adventure, something new and exciting! Iceland has been on our bucket list of destinations for a little while and decided our honeymoon was the perfect time to experience this. Keep in mind, our honeymoon took place in the beginning of November, the start of winter on this northern island.

Upon arrival in Iceland, our plan was to go straight to the Blue Lagoon– the picturesque thermal hot spring with milky blue waters. Once we arrived, it was early in the morning, and they just opened. They offer an upgraded package to have your own private room and access to other luxurious amenities others do not have access to. How could we say no to that?! It is required to shower before entering the hot spring. Our private room had a shower with blue lagoon toiletries, big comfy bathrobes, and flip flops to walk around in.

Taking a dip into these hot thermal waters felt like heaven after a long flight. After applying some face masks at the mask bar, we continued to take advantage of our upgraded package. We had a unique spa experience with additional body scrubs and oils. Swam in the private lagoon we had all to ourselves.

After a few hours at the lagoon, we took a bus over to our Airbnb accommodation. Our Airbnb was in the marina area of Reykjavik, walking distance from so many delicious restaurants, one of our favorites being right next to our temporary cozy home. Our excitement was alive and couldn’t be contained. We were ready to explore the city of Reykjavik
