Banff

The Perfect Mountain Getaway

What to Expect

Getting around- The easiest way to navigate around Banff National Parks and other nearby national parks (Yoho and Kootenay) would be by rental car. Driving around the Banff area is easy and gorgeous. The Icefields Parkway drive is one of the most astounding and well-known drives in western Canada.

Currency- The currency in Canada is CAD. All stores and restaurants in Canada accept credit and debit cards with card reader to table service. No need for cash in Canada, but I do recommend getting some from an ATM as a collectible. Canadian dollars are made out of a plastic like material, polymer. It is unique and colorful.

Cuisine- Canada is country where you can find a great variety of food from different countries. There are some must have Canadian staples of course! First and foremost, you must try Poutine! Poutine consists of french fries in decadent gravy, cheese curds, and sometimes a meat, it hits the spot!

Best time to Visit

The best time to visit Banff Canada depends on what you are wanting to experience. If you wish to ski, snowboard, and go snow tubing, winter would clearly be the best option. For mountain hiking, you can really go anytime but avoiding winter would be preferable. In my opinion, visiting the popular sites of Moraine Lake and Lake Louise would be best in the fall. Keep in mind Moraine Lake is closed towards the end of October or when snow begins.

Blog posts coming soon about my visit to Banff!
